U.S. GEOLOGICAL SURVEY, WRD New York District, Troy, NY WATER RESOURCES REVIEW AND CURRENT CONDITIONS STATEMENT FOR SEPTEMBER 2000 Prepared October 3, 2000 Troy Subdistrict--Summary Report Provisional streamflow conditions at all sites monitored and included in this report in eastern New York were in the normal range except at Mohawk River at Cohoes, Wappinger Creek near Wappingers Falls, and Beaver Kill at Cooks Falls. Mean flows at these 3 sites were in the excessive range for the fifth consecutive month. The percent of median flow at Hudson River at Hadley decreased from August to September (273% to 106%) and mean flow at this site was now in the normal range after six consecutive months in the excessive range. Ithaca Subdistrict--Summary Report Provisional streamflow conditions at sites monitored and included in this report for western New York were in the normal range at Chenango River at Chenango Forks, Chemung River at Chemung, and Allegheny River at Salamanca. Streamflow at Susquehanna River at Conklin, Tonawanda Creek at Batavia, and Oatka Creek at Garbutt were in the excessive range. The mean monthly flow at Tonawanda Creek at Batavia was the third highest of record (55 years). Data for Genesee River at Wellsville was unavailable at the time of this report. Coram Subdistrict--Summary Report The Long Island site selected for inclusion in this report is Connetquot Brook near Central Islip.
